Owen Nolan and Andrew Brunette each scored a goal for Minnesota, which dropped to 1-3-0, and Niklas Backstrom stopped 25-of-29 shots.

Brunette took Shane Hnidy's shot from above the right circle and slapped it into the net at 6:59 in the first period. Nolan's goal, nine minutes into the second period, deflected off Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle and into the goal to make the score 2-0.

San Jose made of the deficit -- and then some -- in a hurry, scoring three goals in 7 1/2 minutes. Ortmeyer shot one between the goalie's legs. Marleu scored one goal on his own rebound, then squeezed behind the Wild defense to net another nine seconds into the final period.
