NHL: Philadelphia 4, Washington 2

WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Philadelphia scored three goals in the third period Tuesday, with Jeff Carter scoring the game-winner, to post a 4-2 victory over Washington.

Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell and Arron Asham also scored for the Flyers, who have won four of their last five games.

Antero Niittymaki made 33 saves for Philadelphia.

Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin each scored a goal for the Capitals. Washington's Jose Theodore made 33 stops in the loss.
