NHL: Detroit 5, N.Y. Rangers 4 (OT)

DETROIT, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa's first goal this season gave Detroit a 5-4 overtime win Saturday over the New York Rangers.

The right winger also assisted on Tomas Holmstrom's second period goal.

Mikael Samuelsson, Johan Franzen and Jiri Hudler (power play) also scored once each, and goalie Chris Osgood made 28 saves on 32 New York shots for the Red Wings, who have won two of their last three contests.

New York's goals were scored by Ryan Callahan in the first, Nigel Dawes in the second, and by Aaron Voros twice in the third.

Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist yielded five goals on 45 Detroit shots for the Rangers, who have split their last four games.

On the power play, Detroit was 1-for-3, and the Rangers went scoreless on their two chances.
