Turnesa, Kuchar share lead at midway point

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Matt Kuchar and Marc Turnesa took advantage of ideal conditions Friday to finish 36 holes in 18-under par and shared the lead at the Shriners Hospital Open.

Kuchar shot his second straight 63 and Turnesa had a 64 at the TPC-Summerlin Course and their 126 totals put them one shot in front of first-round co-leader Zach Johnson. John Mallinger was alone in fourth at 128 and Ken Duke was tied for fifth with Pat Perez at 129.

Turnesa is trying to take advantage of the PGA Tour's Fall Finish and move into the top 125 on the money list. Those among the top 125 earn full playing rights on next year's tour and Turnesa is currently 138th on the list.

Fred Couples, less than a year away from his 50th birthday, made the cut at 132. Also at 132 was Chad Campbell, a member of this year's victorious U.S. Ryder Cup team.

Ryuji Imada, who at No. 13 is the highest-ranked player on the money list competing this week, was at 133.
