Braden Looper (6-3) got the win, giving up eight hits and three runs over five innings. Young (4-4) suffered the loss, having allowed three runs on four hits in 2 1/3.

Young was hit in the face by a line drive off the bat of Pujols in the third. Young was still bleeding when he walked off the field under his own power. Pujols eventually scored in the third and he ran over Bard to do so. Bard suffered an injury to his left foot in the collision and had to leave the game.
