NHL: Philadelphia 4, Washington 3 (2 OT)

PHILADELPHIA, April 17 (UPI) -- Mike Knuble's goal in the second overtime Thursday gave Philadelphia a 4-3 victory against Washington in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal.

The Flyers lead three games to one and can close out the series Saturday in Game 5 in Washington.

Philadelphia again contained high-scoring Washington left wing Alexander Ovechkin, who took just one shot on goal but was credited with two assists.

The contest was tied 3-3 after regulation and the first overtime was scoreless.

The winners got two regulation goals from Jeff Carter and one from Daniel Briere, whose power-play tally with 10 minutes left in the third created the tie.

Scottie Upshall had two assists while Flyers goalie Martin Biron made 38 saves on 41 shots.

Washington got goals from Nicklas Backstrom (power play), Alexander Semin (power play) and Steve Eminger.

Capitals' goaltender Cristobal Huet was beaten four times on 46 shots.
