MLB: Minnesota 6, Tampa Bay 5

MINNEAPOLIS, April 17 (UPI) -- Mike Lamb delivered the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning sacrifice fly Wednesday, giving Minnesota a 6-5 win over Tampa Bay.

Delmon Young opened the eighth with a single off Dan Wheeler (0-2) and went to third on a base hit by Brendan Harris.

Lamb then hit a deep fly to left that drifted into foul territory. Instead of letting the ball bounce, Carl Crawford made a spectacular, sliding catch and that gave Young plenty of time to score what turned out to be the winning run.

Joe Nathan came on to protect the one-run lead and picked up his fifth save.

The eighth-inning run made a winner out of Juan Rincon (1-0), who recorded the final two outs of the eighth.

Minnesota ended a three-game losing streak with Joe Mauer contributing three hits and two runs.
