CHICAGO, April 2 (UPI) -- Rickie Weeks hit a home run on the first pitch of the game and Jason Kendall knocked in a pair of runs Wednesday, helping Milwaukee down the Chicago Cubs 8-2.
The Brewers' Jeff Suppan (1-0) pitched 6 1/3 innings for the win, allowing six hits, including solo homers by Derrek Lee and Geovany Soto.

Kendall had three hits, two of them doubles, and also scored a run.
Ted Lilly (0-1) took the loss, giving up four runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings.
After Weeks led off with his homer, the Brewers steadily built their lead, scoring in six different innings.
