NHL: Calgary 5, Minnesota 4

CALGARY, Alberta, March 23 (UPI) -- Jarome Iginla recorded his seventh NHL career hat trick Saturday night to lead the Calgary Flames past Minnesota 5-4.

Dion Phaneuf had a goal and two assists, Matthew Lombardi scored a goal and Anders Eriksson had two assists for Calgary. Miikka Kiprusoff made 29 saves on 33 shots for the Flames, who won their second straight game and their third out of four, and pulled to within one point of the Wild for first place in the Northwest Division -- and are in sixth place in the Western Conference with 88 points, one point behind Dallas and two points better than Vancouver.

Benoit Pouliot and Kim Johnsson scored two goals each for the Wild, who lost for the second time in three games. Josh Harding gave up five goals on 31 shots.

The contest was tied 2-2 when Iginla scored on a feed from Alex Tanguay 50 seconds into the third period. He scored his third goal of the night when he knocked a rebound into the net at 6:37 of the third.
