NHL: Florida 3, Atlanta 2 (OT)

SUNRISE, Fla., March 9 (UPI) -- Nathan Horton's goal with 23 seconds left in overtime Saturday boosted the Florida Panthers past the Atlanta Thrashers, 3-2.

Florida won after trailing 2-1 after the first period. Brett McLean's 13th goal this season (power play) created a 2-2 tie after the second and the third was scoreless.

McLean also scored his 12th (power play) at 18:32 of the first. Jay Bouwmeester, Olli Jokinen and Rostislav Olesz all had two assists and Tomas Vokoun turned away 25 of 27 shots for the Panthers, who trail Philadelphia by six points for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Atlanta got one goal each from Ilya Kovalchuk and Bryan Little.

Mark Recchi assisted twice and Kari Lehtonen yielded three goals on 43 shots for the Thrashers, who have lost nine of their last 10 games.
