NHL: Chicago 6, Nashville 1

NASHVILLE, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Jonathan Toews scored twice and the Chicago Blackhawks took control early Thursday en route to a 6-1 bashing of Nashville.

The Blackhawks grabbed a 3-0 lead after one period and coasted to the win behind Patrick Lalime, who made 24 saves.

Duncan Keith, Rene Bourque, Cam Barker and Patrick Sharp also scored for the Blackhawks, who produced their second straight five-goal triumph. They downed Columbus Wednesday 7-2.

Jason Arnott scored the only goal for Nashville, which had won its previous two games.

Chris Mason gave up three goals on seven shots during the first 13 minutes. He was then replaced by Dan Ellis, who surrendered three more goals on 13 shots.

Keith scored just 64 seconds into the game and Toews added two more scores in the first period during a span of 56 seconds.

Arnott broke up Lalime's shutout bid at 6:12 of the third.
