NBA: Atlanta 104, New Jersey 92

ATLANTA, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Marvin Williams (24), Josh Childress (23) and Josh Smith (23) combined to score 70 points Saturday to lead the Atlanta Hawks over New Jersey 104-92.

Atlanta started its victory with a 25-18 lead after the first quarter, built it to 55-38 at the half and used sticky defense to withstand repeated efforts by Nets to mount a comeback.

The Hawks' biggest lead was 81-66 with 11:07 left in the fourth.

Williams had seven rebounds and five assists. Childress also had seven rebounds, while Smith added eight rebounds and five assists.

Al Horford had 14 points and seven rebounds and Joe Johnson scored 10 for the Hawks, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

New Jersey got 23 points and four rebounds from Richard Jefferson. Bostjan Nachbar had 16 points and four rebounds.

Both Vince Carter and Josh Boone scored 14 points and Jason Kidd had five points and 10 assists for the Nets, who had won four straight against the Hawks.
