NHL: Buffalo 10, Atlanta 1

BUFFALO, N.Y., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Drew Stafford recorded his first career hat trick Friday and produced a career-best five points in sending Buffalo storming past Atlanta 10-1.

It was Buffalo's first win since Dec. 22, ending a streak of 10 straight losses.

Thomas Vanek, Jochen Hecht and Ales Kotalik all had a goal and two assists. It was Buffalo's first 10-goal game in two years.

Ryan Miller stopped 23 shots to pick up his 18th win of the season.

Atlanta, which has lost four out of six, gave up a double-digit goal total for the first time in franchise history.

Johan Hedberg allowed seven of the goals on 28 shots. Kari Lehtonen played 27 minutes and gave up three goals on 21 shots.
