ATLANTA, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Scott Hartnell had a goal and two assists Tuesday, propelling the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-1 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.
Jeff Carter scored two goals and Steve Downie scored his second goal in as many games for the Flyers, who have won five of their last six games.

Antero Niittymaki made 27 saves in the win for Philadelphia, which has won eight straight against Atlanta and is 11
1 against the Thrashers since a 4-1 loss Dec. 21, 2003.
Ilya Kovalchuk scored the lone goal for Atlanta and Johan Hedberg gave up four goals on 29 shots for the Thrashers, who have lost five of their last eight games.
