CHICAGO, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- A shorthanded goal by Rene Bourque just 16 seconds into the second period Friday night keyed a 4-2 victory for the Chicago Blackhawks over St. Louis.
The Blues lost for the fourth time in five games.
Chicago had overcome a 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 advantage after one period, on goals by Patrick Kane and Jim Vandermeer.
The Blackhawks opened the second period trying to kill a holding penalty called on Tuomo Ruutu with 42 seconds left in the first. Bourque did more than kill off the penalty, however, by producing the shorthanded goal against Manny Legace.
It was Bourque's first goal of the year.
David Perron scored midway through the second to get the Blues within one, and that is the way it stayed until Chicago's Yanic Perreault put one into an empty net with 1:04 remaining in the game.
Both teams had two power-play goals.
Patrick Lalime made 23 saves for the Blackhawks, who won their second straight in the third game of a four-game home stand.
