NHL: Ottawa 4, Montreal 3

OTTAWA, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Jason Spezza scored a tie-breaking goal in the third period Thursday night, as the Ottawa Senators edged Montreal, 4-3.

Spezza's goal, his first of the new season, broke a 3-3 tie at the 13:15 mark of the third.

Ottawa's Wade Redden had a goal and an assist.

Nick Foligno and Dany Heatley scored a goal apiece, and goaltender Martin Gerber stopped 28-of-31 Montreal shots, as the Senators got their second win in a row, and the fourth in their last five games.

Montreal got one goal each from Guillaume Latendresse, Michael Ryder (power play) and Alexei Kovalev (power play).

Goalie Carey Price was beaten four times on 33 shots for the Canadiens, who have lost three in a row.
