MLB: Pittsburgh 11, Philadelphia 6

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Adam LaRoche and Xavier Nady scored the winning runs on an error Saturday night as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat Philadelphia, 11-6.

LaRoche and Nady scored in the bottom of the fifth on a throwing error by Abraham Nunez to put Pittsburgh ahead for good. The Pirates got two RBI from both LaRoche and Freddy Sanchez, and five players had one RBI each.

LaRoche and Sanchez had three hits apiece. Nady and Jason Bay had two hits each, while Nady scored three times for the Pirates, who have split their last four games.

Winning pitcher Paul Maholm (9-14) broke a personal two-game losing streak.

Philadelphia’s Jason Werth hit a three-run homer and Pat Burrell added a two-run blast. Ryan Howard hit an RBI single and Tadahito Iguchi and Carlos Ruiz both had two hits for the Phillies, who also have split four.

The loser was Jamie Moyer (11-9).

The Phillies blew a 6-4 lead.
