MLB: N.Y. Yankees 8, Chi. White Sox 1

NEW YORK, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Jorge Posada hit two of New York's five home runs Wednesday as the Yankees cruised past the Chicago White Sox 8-1.

None of the New York homers, however, came from Alex Rodriguez, who needs one more to get to 500 for his career and become the youngest player in history to reach that milestone. Rodriguez was hitless in four at-bats, extending his slump to 0-for-21.

New York, which equaled a franchise record with eight homers Tuesday, got a two-run shot from Shelley Duncan and solo blasts from Robinson Cano and Derek Jeter.

The Yankees tied a club record with 13 home runs over a two-game stretch.

Andy Pettitte (7-7) got the win by giving up a run on six hits over seven innings.

New York roughed up John Danks (6-8) for six runs over four innings. He gave up three of the homers.
