CLEVELAND, June 28 (UPI) -- Jason Michaels' three-run home run in the seventh inning Thursday afternoon lifted the Cleveland Indians to a 4-3 win over the Oakland Athletics.
Cleveland trailed 3-1 heading into the seventh when Kelly Shoppach led off with a single. After a fielder's choice, Casey Blake delivered a pinch-hit single. Oakland reliever Ron Flores was brought in and got an out before Michaels sent a home run to deep left.
Flores (0-2) took the loss.
Oakland, which has lost six of its last seven games, took the lead behind Dan Johnson's four-hit game.
The Athletics scored in the first on an Eric Chavez single and pushed the lead to 3-0 in the second when Johnson led off with a home run and Mark Kotsay delivered a two-out RBI single.
Grady Sizemore doubled in Josh Barfield in the Cleveland fifth to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Cleveland's Paul Byrd (7-3) got the win despite allowing 10 hits over seven innings.
