MLB: Cleveland 5, Atlanta 2

CLEVELAND, June 17 (UPI) -- Fausto Carmona gave up five hits in seven-plus innings Sunday as the Cleveland Indians posted a 5-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Carmona (8-2) struck out five and walked two. Joe Borowski blanked Atlanta in the ninth inning for his 20th save of the season.

Casey Blake extended his hitting streak to 26 games for the Indians, who won for just the third time in their last eight games. Franklin Gutierrez had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

Atlanta starter Kyle Davies (3-6) went 5 1/3 innings and allowed five runs on six hits. Davies has lost three straight starts and four of his last five.

Chipper Jones, who was 2-for-4, recorded his 2,000 career hit with a single in the second inning for the Braves. Scott Thorman was 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the loss.
