MLB: Toronto 9, Kansas City 1

TORONTO, April 9 (UPI) -- A.J. Burnett and three relievers combined on a four-hitter and Vernon Wells homered Monday as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Kansas City Royals 9-1.

Burnett (1-1) scattered three hits over 6 2/3 innings, struck out five and walked three for the Blue Jays, who have won three in a row.

Scott Downs, Jeremy Accardo and Victor Zambrano combined to allow just one hit over the final 2 1/3 innings.

Aaron Hill was 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored for Toronto.

Kansas City starter Odalis Perez (0-2) gave up four runs on seven hits in just 1 1/3 innings. Mike Sweeney had two of Kansas City's four hits and John Buck homered off Burnett.
