NHL: Colorado 7, Calgary 5

CALGARY, Alberta, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Milan Hejduk had the hat trick Thursday night, leading the Colorado Avalanche to 7-5 comeback victory over Calgary.

Joe Sakic finished with two goals and three assists for Colorado -- and became the 17th player to score 600 goals in the NHL. Andrew Brunette had a goal and two assists, Brett Clark had a goal and an assist, and Brad Richardson and Karlis Skrastins had two assists each for Colorado -- which won it second straight game and its third out of five.

Jose Theodore entered the game midway through the second period to replace Peter Budaj -- who had yielded four goals on 20 shots -- and made eight saves on nine shots to get the win.

Jarome Iginla and Matt Lombardi each scored two goals, Alex Tanguay had three assists, and Craig Conroy had a goal and two assists for the Flames, who lost for the fifth time in their last six games.

Miikka Kiprusoff allowed seven goals on 35 shots.

The two teams swapped the lead off-and-on and were tied, 5-5, with 9:44 remaining when Hejduk completed the hat trick to give the Avs a 6-5 lead.

Sakic reached the 600-goal milestone with an empty-netter at 19:50 of the third.
