NBA: Dallas 101, Phoenix 99

DALLAS, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki sank a 19-foot jump shot with one second left Thursday night to give the Dallas Mavericks a 101-99 win over Phoenix.

Jason Terry totaled 35 points, three rebounds, eight assists and three steals for the Mavericks, who built their winning streak to eight games.

Nowitzki had 27 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Josh Howard totaled 16 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals; while Devin Harris added 13 points and five assists.

Dallas had a slim 52-49 halftime edge.

Amare Stoudamire had 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Suns, who have dropped two of their last three games.

Steve Nash had 24 points, 13 assists and four rebounds. Leandro Barbosa had 14 points and five assists, while Shaun Marion had 12 points and six rebounds.

It was a sloppy contest, with Phoenix committing 20 turnovers to 18 by the Mavericks.
