Detroit went on top, 2-1, in the second period on goals by Mikael Samuelsson and Mathieu Schneider.

Mark Bell and Pavelski scored in the final five minutes to give the Sharks their 11th win in 13 games, and a rare victory on Detroit's home ice.

One night after Dominik Hasek recorded his fourth shutout of the season -- and the 72nd of his career -- he gave up three goals on 35 shots for the Red Wings, who had a brief two-game winning streak broken.

On the power play, San Jose was 1-for-5, while Detroit was 1-for-3.
