NHL: San Jose 6, Vancouver 4

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- The San Jose Sharks downed the Vancouver Canucks 6-4 Friday, helped by Curtis Brown's shorthanded breakaway goal in the third period.

Besides that game-winning goal, Mike Grier, Ville Nieminen, Patrick Rissmiller, Patrick Marleau and Christian Ehrhoff scored for the Sharks. Goalie Vesa Toskala made 22 saves in the winning effort.

Markus Naslund scored his 300th goal as a Canuck, tying him with Trevor Linden for the franchise lead. Kevin Bieksa, Mattias Ohlund and Daniel Sedin all scored for Vancouver. Roberto Luongo, in his first game at home, stopped 31-of-37 shots.
