MLB: Toronto 7, N.Y. Yankees 3

TORONTO, July 22 (UPI) -- Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player ever to reach 450 career home runs Friday night, but the New York Yankees lost to Toronto, 7-3.

On an eventful night, the home run, a three-run blast in the third inning, gave Rodriguez 2,000th career hits, but he committed a costly throwing error in the fourth, which led to a run.

Troy Glaus had a solo homer among his three runs, two hits, and four RBI; Lyle Overbay had two hits and two RBI; Reed Johnson had a run and two hits; Gregg Zaun had two hits; and Eric Hinske hit an RBI single for the Blue Jays (54-42), who have won five of their last seven games.

The winner was A.J. Burnett (2-3).

Derek Jeter added a run and two hits for the Yankees (55-39), who have lost three in a row.

Loser Jaret Wright (6-6) surrendered five runs and seven hits in 2 2/3 innings.
