Davydenko, Robredo advance at Swedish Open

BASTAD, Sweden, July 10 (UPI) -- Nikolay Davydenko and Tommy Robredo advanced during Monday's first-round action at the Swedish Open.

Defending champion Rafael Nadal of Spain is not playing this week. Nadal, who has won 60 consecutive matches on clay, withdrew claiming fatigue.but pulled out citing fatigue from a busy last month.

Nadal beat Swiss star Roger Federer to win the French Open in early June but lost to him in four sets in the Wimbledon final on Sunday.

Top-seeded Davydenko, a Russian, opened with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Spain's Alberto Martin. Robredo bounced back from a sluggish first set to beat France's Gilles Simon 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
