MLB: Minnesota 3, Seattle 1

MINNEAPOLIS, May 26 (UPI) -- Francisco Liriano hurled five shutout innings Friday night as Minnesota beat the Seattle Mariners, 3-1.

Joe Mauer hit a solo homer, Tony Batista had one hit and one RBI, and both Rondell White and Justin Morneau had one run and one hit for the Twins (21-26).

Minnesota has split its last four games.

Liriano (3-0) gave up only four hits, walked one and struck out six.

Yuniesky Betancourt had one hit and drove in the lone run, Carl Everett had one run and one hit, and Adrian Beltre had two hits for the Mariners (22-28), who have lost three of their last four games.

Losing pitcher Felix Hernandez (3-6) yielded three runs and five hits in seven innings. He had one walk and eight strikeouts.
