Rangers' Jagr to have shoulder surgery

NEW YORK, May 4 (UPI) -- The New York Rangers Thursday said star right winger Jaromir Jagr has been scheduled to have surgery on his dislocated left shoulder Monday.

Jagr was injured in the third period of Game One of the Rangers' Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against New Jersey. He attempted to play through the pain in Game Three after missing the second game of the four-game sweep by the Devils.

Jagr was nominated for his sixth career Hart Trophy Thursday as the National Hockey League's Most Valuable Player, joining Calgary goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff and San Jose center Joe Thornton. In the regular season, Jagr had 123 points on 54 goals and 69 assists. He set franchise records for goals and total points in one season for the Rangers.

He last won the Hart Trophy in 1999. Thornton, who was obtained from Boston, was the league's top scorer with 125 points.
