DETROIT, April 15 (UPI) -- Fausto Carmona pitched six innings in his major league debut Saturday and Travis Hafner hit a two-run homer as the Cleveland Indians beat Detroit, 7-2.
Todd Hollandsworth had two hits and two RBI for the Indians, who snapped a three-game skid.
Carmona (1-0) -- who had a 0.75 earned run average in four spring outings and began the 2006 campaign with Buffalo of the International League -- allowed five hits and a run with two walks and four strikeouts.
The 22-year-old right-hander was inserted as a starter for the Indians after lefthander C.C. Sabathia was placed on the disabled list with a strained right oblique muscle.
Jeremy Bonderman (1-2) gave up eight hits and seven runs in 3 2/3 innings. Omar Infante and Brandon Inge each drove in a run for Detroit.
Hafner has seven homers so far this season.
