NHL: Montreal 4, Boston 3

BOSTON, April 13 (UPI) -- Alex Kovalev had two goals and an assist Thursday night to help Montreal beat the Boston Bruins, 4-3.

Jan Bulis added a goal and two assists; and David Aebischer made 25 saves for the Canadiens (42-29-9). Montreal, which sits in the seventh playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 93 points, leads idle Tampa Bay by four points. Montreal has just two games left while the Lightning have three left, two against Carolina. Atlanta beat Washington, 5-3, on Thursday and is ninth in the East with 87 points.

Patrice Bergeron scored twice; Yan Stastny scored once; Brad Boyes; Glen Murray; Hal Gill; and Brian Leetch all assisted once; and Tim Thomas made 22 saves for the Bruins (29-36-16).

Boston, which has one game left, has dropped four games in a row. Montreal was 7-1 in the season series.
