NHL: San Jose 4, Los Angeles 3

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 14 (UPI) -- Jonathan Cheechoo scored a hat trick in leading the San Jose Sharks to a 4-3 victory Monday win over the visiting Los Angeles Kings.

Cheechoo also reached the 40-goal plateau for the season, while Patrick Marleau notched his career-high 29th goal. Joe Thornton added three assists, including his 70th, while goaltender Vesa Toskala made 19 saves for San Jose.

For the Kings, Mike Cammalleri registered a goal and an assist and goaltender Mathieu Garon stopped 25 shots for the Kings. Eric Belanger and Joe Corvo also scored for Los Angeles.
