NHL: Atlanta 3, N.Y. Rangers 2 (SO)

ATLANTA, March 9 (UPI) -- Atlanta's Marian Hossa scored the winning goal in the fourth round of the shootout as the Thrashers edged the visiting New York Rangers, 3-2.

Ilya Kovalchuk and Serge Aubin had regulation goals, while Kari Lehtonen made 32 saves prior to the shootout and then made two more stops.

Atlanta has now won three in a row, each of which has come in either a shootout or overtime.

For the Rangers, Jaromir Jagr recorded his league-leading 43rd goal and Henrik Lundqvist finished with 33 saves in the loss, the third straight. Martin Rucinsky assisted on both Ranger goals.

Atlanta went 0-for-8 on the power play, while the Rangers ended 1-of-9 with the man advantage.
