NHL: St. Louis 3, Calgary 2 (SO)

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Lee Stempniak scored the game-tying goal in the second period and the winning goal in the shootout Monday as the St. Louis Blues beat Calgary, 3-2.

Jay McClement also scored for the Blues, who picked up their first home shootout win. Curtis Sanford added 29 saves as St. Louis won for just the second time in its last 13 games.

Daymond Langkow and Marcus Nilson each scored for the Flames, who lost for the third time in their last four games. Miikka Kiprusoff made 16 saves in defeat.

St. Louis went into the shootout missing some offense after trading away its top two scorers in a two-day span. The Blues sent center Doug Weight to Carolina on Monday, one day after shipping center Mike Sillinger to Nashville.
