BOSTON, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Marco Sturm scored the game-winning goal in the third period Thursday night as Boston beat the Washington Capitals, 3-2.
Brad Boyes had a goal and an assist; Eric Nickulas and Marco Sturm also scored once; Patrice Bergeron had two assists; and goalie Tim Thomas made 32 saves for the Bruins (21-21-8), who are 5
2 in their last seven games.

Ben Clymer and Chris Clark each scored goals; Jeff Halpern had two assists; and Brent Johnson made 29 saves for the Capitals (17-27-5), who have dropped three in a row and are winless in their last seven games at Boston.
The Capitals out-shot the Bruins, 34-21. On the power play, Washington went 3-for-6; Boston was 1-for-5.
