NHL: Washington 6, Phoenix 1

GLENDALE, Ariz., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Alexander Ovechkin had two goals and an assist Monday as the Washington Capitals beat the Phoenix Coyotes, 6-1.

Ben Clymer and Matt Bradley each had a goal and an assist for the Capitals, who have won two in a row since dropping six straight. Washington goaltender Brent Johnson had 21 saves.

Shane Doan had the lone Coyote goal while Keith Ballard and Petr Nedved had assists for Phoenix, which had a two-game win streak snapped.

Phoenix goalie Brian Boucher allowed six goals on 34 shots.
