NEW YORK, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Southern California running back Reggie Bush won the 71st Heisman Trophy, college football's most prestigious individual honor, on Saturday night.

The other Southern California Heisman winners were all running backs -- Mike Garrett (1965), O.J. Simpson (1968), Charles White (1979) and Marcus Allen (1981).

Bush received 784 first-place votes and 2,541 total points. He easily beat the other two finalists -- Leinart and Texas quarterback Vince Young.

Bush, 20, has helped USC (12-0) win 34 straight games. The junior has rushed for 1,658 yards and 15 touchdowns on 187 carries, while catching 31 passes for 383 yards and two scores this season.

Bush became the first running back to win the Heisman since 1999, when Wisconsin's Ron Dayne took home the award.
