MLB: Florida 6, Atlanta 2

MIAMI, July 1 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer Thursday night to key a 6-2 win by the Florida Marlins over the Atlanta Braves.

Winning pitcher Josh Beckett, just off the disabled list, surrendered only one hit over six shutout innings with two walks and four strikeouts. Beckett had been on the DL since June 15 because of a blister on the middle finger of his right hand.
