ML homer leader out with shoulder injury

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Jim Thome, the major's home run leader, missed Saturday's game against San Francisco because of a bruised shoulder.

The All-Star slugger had X-rays taken after getting hurt against the Giants on Friday night. The results were negative after the injury was first believed to be to the right collar bone.
