MLB: Toronto 11, Detroit 0

DETROIT, April 15 (UPI) -- Roy Halladay pitched an eight-hitter and continued his domination of the Detroit Tigers as the Toronto Blue Jays coasted to an 11-0 win in Detroit Thursday.

The Blue Jays scored a combined one run for Halladay in his first two starts, both defeats, before exploding for 12 hits and their highest run total of the young season.

That would be plenty for Halladay (1-2), who improved to 10-2 lifetime against the Tigers, including his first major league victory in September 1998, when he took a no-hitter into the ninth inning. He also dominated the Tigers in two September starts last season in which he threw 19 scoreless innings en route to a Cy Young Award.

The Tigers had scored at least five runs in each of their first eight games, including a season-opening 7-0 win against Halladay at Toronto.

Jason Johnson (1-2) took the loss, allowing three runs and five hits in four innings. He allowed all of his runs in the third on an RBI double by Frank Catalanotto, an RBI single to Vernon Wells and a sacrifice fly by Eric Hinske.
