MLB All-Star teams set

NEW YORK, July 7 (UPI) -- Atlanta and St. Louis had 12 members named Sunday to the National League All-Star team, seven Braves and five Cardinals.

For the American League, Seattle and Oakland have four apiece for the 74th "Midsummer Classic."

For the first time, the outcome will impact postseason play, with the winning league gaining home-field advantage in the World Series.

Catcher Javy Lopez, second baseman Marcus Giles, and outfielder Gary Sheffield will start for the Braves. They are joined as NL starters by Cardinals outfielder Albert Pujols, third baseman Scott Rolen, and shortstop Edgar Renteria, San Francisco slugger Barry Bonds, and Colorado first baseman Todd Helton.

On the AL side will be outfielder Hideki Matsui, second baseman Alfonso Soriano, and catcher Jorge Posada of the New York Yankees, rightfielder Ichiro Suzuki of Seattle, Boston leftfielder Manny Ramirez, Toronto first baseman Carlos Delgado, Texas shortstop Alex Rodriguez, and Anaheim third baseman Troy Glaus.

The managers will be Anaheim's Mike Scioscia and Dusty Baker of the Chicago Cubs.
