Memphis 101, Milwaukee 95

MILWAUKEE, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Pau Gasol scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Sunday to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to 101-95 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks and a sweep of the season series.

Shane Battier added 15 points and Wesley Person and Jason Williams each contributed 14 as the Grizzlies allowed at least 90 points for the 21st straight game but recorded just their second victory in their last 10 contests.

Down by as many as 14 points in the first half, Memphis used a pair of 10-2 runs to get back into the game. The Grizzlies closed the second quarter with the first spurt to go into halftime trailing, 51-48, and used the second run to take a 78-71 lead at the end of three quarters.

Milwaukee tied it twice but never led again. Ray Allen's layup forged an 86-86 tie with 4:41 left, but Gasol answered with a layup. Sam Cassell moved the Bucks to an 88-88 deadlock with a jumper, but Gasol again responded with a jumper with 3:46 remaining.

Cassell hit the second of two free throws to pull Milwaukee within 90-89 before Gasol hit a pair from the line. After Toni Kukoc missed a potential tying 3-pointer with 3:03 left, Williams drained a long-range jumper for a 95-89 advantage with 2:27 to go.

Allen scored 23 points and Cassell chipped in 22, but Milwaukee had its three-game winning streak stopped. The Bucks finished their season-high eight-game homestand at 5-3 and embark on a four-game Pacific Division road trip Tuesday.
