DENVER, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Peter Forsberg set up all three goals Saturday night as the Colorado Avalanche's top line got them back on track in a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild.
Forsberg assisted on goals by Milan Hejduk, Alex Tanguay and defenseman Adam Foote as the Avalanche built a three-goal lead before holding on. They rebounded from Thursday night's 2-1 loss at Vancouver, which snapped their 10-game unbeaten streak (8
2).
Arguably the best two-way player in the world, Forsberg has 41 points in his last 24 games and 17 in the past eight. Hejduk had a goal and an assist, giving him 39 points in 26 games under coach Tony Granato.
Colorado improved to 16-6-2-2 with Granato behind the bench and snapped a fifth-place tie with Minnesota in the Western Conference. It moved to 7
1 at home against the Wild and 11-1-2-1 in the all-time series.
Jim Dowd and Pascal Dupuis scored in the opening 3:39 of the third period, but the Wild dropped their second game in as many nights. They outshot the Avalanche, 36-22.
