Florida 6; Colorado 2

DENVER, May 15 (UPI) -- Josh Beckett tossed six strong innings in his return from the disabled list Tuesday night as the Florida Marlins ended the seven-game home winning streak of the Colorado Rockies with a 6-2 victory.

Beckett (1-2) last pitched on April 28 before going on the disabled list three days later with a blister on his right hand. He was effective in his first appearance at Coors Field, allowing just a pair of runs and three hits.

Florida snapped a 2-2 tie with two runs in the seventh inning. Mike Lowell led off with a single and Derrek Lee followed with a triple and later scored on a wild pitch by Rockies starter Denny Neagle (3-2).

The Marlins got some insurance in the eighth when Lowell added a sacrifice fly and Cliff Floyd scored on a wild pitch by Colorado reliever Rick White.

The Rockies loaded the bases with one out in their half of that inning, forcing Florida to go to closer Vladimir Nunez, who struck out Jose Ortiz and got Terry Shumpert on a groundout, then tossed a scoreless ninth for his eighth save.
