MONTREAL, April 4 (UPI) -- Brad Penny tossed a four-hitter for his second career shutout Thursday night to give the Florida Marlins a 1-0 victory over Montreal.

The righthander walked three and struck out three and did not allow a runner to reach third base. Montreal never had more than one baserunner in an inning.

Penny improved to 6-0 in six games against the Expos with an 0.81 ERA in 44 innings. His other shutout came against the Expos on April 21, 2001. He completed the shutout by getting Vladimir Guerrero on a fly ball to center field.

Derrek Lee gave Penny all the support he needed in the fourth inning with a solo home run to right center field off Carl Pavano (0-1).
