LA LAkers 128, Memphis 94

ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant scored 16 of his 24 points in the first half and Rick Fox added 21 points as the Los Angeles Lakers coasted to a 128-94 rout of the Memphis Grizzlies at The Pond in Anaheim Tuesday night.

Bryant had eight points in the first quarter as Los Angeles (2-4) built a 36-19 lead and scored eight more in the second as the lead grew to 68-45 at intermission. Fox scored 13 points in the first half.

Shaquille O'Neal finished with 19 points and seven rebounds for the Lakers, who shot 52 percent (48-of-92) in a game that resembled a layup drill for them. Samaki Walker got the start at power forward and added 11 points and 10 boards.

Jason Williams collected 13 points and eight assists for Memphis (4-2), which has lost two straight after opening the preseason with four victories.

Grizzlies rookie Shane Battier had a subpar outing, shooting 2-of-7 from the field en route to nine points in 32 minutes. However, Pau Gasol, the No. 3 overall selection in the draft, managed 12 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes.

Memphis played without starting forward Michael Dickerson, who sat out with the flu, and center Bryant Reeves, who is suffering from back spasms.
