Dec. 7 (UPI) -- A Florida woman whose daughter was horrified to find the family dog had mauled their Elf on the Shelf took the stuffed toy to a hospital for "surgery."

Jenn Thelen, a nurse manager at Arnold Palmer Hospital, said she woke to the sound of her 7-year-old daughter, Aubrie, screaming in horror at finding the family's German shepherd, Zoey, had mauled their holiday elf, Sam.

Thelen told her daughter she would take Sam to work so "special doctors" could mend his wounds.

The hospital posted a video to Facebook showing the "surgery" that was performed on the elf using expired medical products and "a special pair of Santa's magic gloves."

"One of our ER team members, Ashley, carefully put Sam back together again and bandaged his injuries all up," the hospital said in a comment under the video. "She even sprinkled some Christmas magic (glitter) on Sam when she was done. Sam was able to go home to Aubrie later that evening."
