Elephant seal pup attempts to suckle from man's boot

LONDON, April 26 (UPI) -- A man who encountered a baby elephant seal on an island in Antarctic waters captured video of the pup attempting to suckle from the man's boot.

The video, captured on the island of South Georgia, shows the baby elephant seal approach the man while he was sitting on the ground and filming wildlife.

The seal, which the uploader said was recently weaned by its mother, was recorded showing how he was "desperate to suckle" by attempting to feast on the man's boot.

"If you just sit down they will slowly approach and try to suckle anything and everything--boots, face, hands, camera, tripod," the uploader wrote. "Interestingly, if they survive into adulthood, they will become the largest seal on the planet. I had to physically push it off of my lap, laughing the whole time."
