The Auburn, Ala., billboard shows a group of smiling children alongside the words, "He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future." The sign attributes the quote to Hitler. Life Savers Ministries, which purchased the advertising space from Lamar Advertising, decided to pull the promotion when observers questioned its content. "We are pulling the billboard and certainly never intended to cause confusion," Life Savers founder James Anderegg told the Ledger-Enquirer. "Herbert Hoover would have been a far better one to quote when he said, 'Children are our most valuable resource.' We are a children's organization and had honorable intentions and nothing less."
