NEW CASTLE, Pa., March 26 (UPI) -- A team of paranormal investigators from Ohio said they have detected signs of ghosts at a former mental institution in Pennsylvania. Advertisement The Cleveland Paranormal Research Society said they heard unexplained whistling and screaming and found other signs of ghosts including shadows and a moving necklace during their March 16 visit to Hill View Manor in New Castle, WEWS-TV, Cleveland, reported Tuesday. The facility was built in 1926 to house mentally ill and elderly patients. It was closed for financial reasons in 2004. The investigators said they also captured photos of mysterious "floating mist" inside the building. Prosecutor drops charges against groundhog HAMILTON, Ohio, March 26 (UPI) -- An Ohio prosecutor said he is dropping charges against Punxsutawney Phil after the groundhog's handler took responsibility for spring's late start. Advertisement Michael Gmoser, Butler County prosecutor, filed court documents announcing he was dropping the fraud charges against the Pennsylvania groundhog as the animal "has a defense with teeth in it -- his handler stepped up to the burrow to take full responsibility for misinterpreting said defendant's prediction of an early spring." "In these serious times, I hope this case brought a light-hearted moment to all concerned with a warm welcome to spring ahead," Gmoser wrote in the memorandum in support of his dismissal of the charge. Man creates celebs from peanut shells FORT THOMAS, Ky., March 26 (UPI) -- A Kentucky man has carved out a unique niche for his business by turning peanut shells into mini statues of celebrities and other people. Steve Casino, 47, of Fort Thomas, Ky., said his project started with a statue of The Ramones singer Joey Ramone and he has since created tiny statues of Elton John, Sean Connery as James Bond, Gomez and Morticia Addams, Andy Warhol and several other celebrities using peanut shells for the bodies and craft supplies, including bamboo skewers, wood filler and embroidery floss, for limbs and other details, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Tuesday. Advertisement "Mostly, these are people that I like but I'm doing them for hire now so I'm creating complete strangers," Casino said. Casino said his customers on www.stevecasino.com include Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor, who requested his own likeness as well as statues of his wife and two children. Casino said he hopes to display his celebrities, which will soon add Freddy Mercury and Pee Wee Herman to their ranks, at a gallery in the future. Bride busted on theft charge ONALASKA, Wis., March 26 (UPI) -- Police in Wisconsin said they arrested a newlywed accused of stealing rings from the venue where her reception was held. Investigators said Connie Sykes, 58, of Onalaska was caught on security cameras stealing a small display case containing rings from a local jeweler during her wedding reception Sunday at River Jack's Restaurant and Lounge, the Lacrosse Tribune reported Tuesday. Police said the woman's bra insert was found near where the case was taken. Officers confronted Sykes at her home, where she denied taking the case, but her new husband discovered it while looking through their wedding gifts. The case contained 76 rings worth a total of about $1,000. Advertisement Sykes was arrested on a charge of theft.
